What's this?
Heavy Snow is the twenty-first of the twenty-four solar terms, usually on December 6, 7 or 8 every year.
"Heavy snow" means colder weather and a greater chance of snowfall. It is already freezing and snowy in the north, and it is also bone-chillingly cold in the south. This is the time of year when yin energy is at its strongest.
Why is it important?
Heavy snow is the ultimate "hiding" of the year.
Traditional Chinese medicine says "in the third month of winter, this is called closed storage". During the heavy snow season, everything hides in the deepest place, and people also have to hide. It's not laziness, it's just following the rhythm of nature - saving energy and waiting for spring growth.
There is an old saying: "If the heavy snow is repaired properly, you will not be affected by the cold all year long." This means that if the heavy snow is repaired during this period, you will be less likely to get sick throughout the winter.
